Only two Senior Division games survived the weather on Saturday. In one, bottom of the table Coalpit Heath were crushed 9-0 at home by Cribbs Friends Life Res. and still prop up the tale without a point after 17 matches. Hanham Athletic Res. joined Brislington Cricketers in second place following a 2-0 victory over Sea Mills Park.

The race for the First Division championship was blown wide open again when leaders Warmley Saints were pipped 3-2 by third-placed Crosscourt United. Crosscourt also knocked Warmley out of the GFA Junior Cup earlier in the season and their victory takes them within seven points of the leaders with a game in hand. In between the two are Stockwood Wanderers who crushed Seymour United Res. 9-2 and remain one point ahead of Crosscourt. Miners Rangers won 1-0 at DRG Stapleton Res. and improved their chances of avoiding relegation. In other games played, Iron Acton won 2-0 at Rangeworthy and St. Pancras beat Hambrook 3-1.

Portville Warriors drubbed Iron Acton Res. 7-1 to remain one point ahead at the top of Division Two from De Veys who notched a narrow 3-2 win against fourth-placed Bradley Stoke Town. third-placed Stanton Drew did not play. Bottom of the table Nicholas Wanderers ‘A’ picked up their third win of the campaign beating Hanham Athletic ‘A’ 4-0, a win which drew them level on points with Chipping Sodbury Town ‘A’ who crashed 4-1 to Bendix.

Soundwell Victoria were the only team in the top four places of Division Three to play at the weekend and a comfortable 5-2 win at Hambrook Res. boosted their chances of promotion. Bottom of the table Oakland stormed to a 4-1 victory over Greyfriars Athletic Res. and with games in hand they have a real chance to catch the teams immediately above them in the table. Horfield OB were 4-2 winners against Henbury     
‘A’ and Lawrence Rovers Res. and Roman Glass St. George ‘B’ fought out a 2-2 draw in the other games played.

Real Thornbury were given one of the toughest games they have played this season but they still ran out 5-2 winners at home to Cribbs Friends Life ‘A’ to stretch their 100% record to fifteen matches in Division Four. Patchway North End in second place lie seven points adrift of the runaway leaders following a 2-0 victory at Pucklechurch Sports Res. the two other games played in this division on Saturday affected the relegation positions. Hallen ‘B’ gained a point from a 3-3 draw with Talbot Knowle Res. but dropped to the bottom of the table as Made for Ever Res. won for the third time this season 3-2 at Wick ‘A’.

Bishopsworth United lost their unbeaten record in Division Five in a 4-0 defeat at Highridge United Res. They still lead by three points as second-placed Crosscourt United Res. also lost by the odd goal in seven at Oldland Abbotonians ‘A’. Sea Mills Park Res. have now moved into second spot following their 5-2 win over Brimsham Green Res. but on a crazy day, Soundwell Victoria Res. who occupied third place overnight on Friday, were also beaten 3-1 by Iron Acton ‘A’.

Old Sodbury Res. relinquished the top spot in Division Six when they lost 4-2 at home to third-placed South Bristol Central Res. Broadlands eased to a 4-1 victory over Rangeworthy Res. and took over at the top with their 100% record intact. The other game played witnessed an amazing 5-5 draw between Fry Club ‘B’ and Winford PH ‘A’.
