FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round
Hellenic League Almondsbury Town booked a place in the Preliminary Round of the Cup with a 2-0 success at home to Toolstation League Longwell Green Sports. Brad Andrews gave them the lead at the interval and Matt Williams sealed the victory towards the end of the game.
Bitton are now facing a long trip to the Isle of Wight on Wednesday after being held 1-1 by Newport at Bath Road. Richard Perry fired the home side ahead after 35 minutes but the visitors earned a replay with a late goal despite Bitton’s goalkeeper John Rendall saving a penalty.
George Brimson and Dave Anyinsah were on target for Hallen as they won 2-1 at Marlow Utd and will now entertain Lymington Town in the next stage. The Hampshire side trounced Harrow Hill 6-0 at the weekend.
Keynsham Town went down 3-1 at Bridport and had Luke Lipinski sent off towards the end. Bridport raced into a three-goal lead through Lewis Cocker, and two from Dan Wise, one from the penalty spot. An own goal reduced the arrears.
Bristol Manor Farm will entertain Carterton in Tuesday’s replay following a 2-2 draw in Oxfordshire. Kevin Lewis and Mike Durden gave the hosts a 2-0 lead after just 20 minutes, but Farm fought back to force a draw thanks to Scott Feltham and Ben Hiscox.
Brislington and Portishead Town also face a replay on Tuesday at Ironmould Lane after Saturday’s 1-1 draw. Paul McElvaney fired Brislington ahead only for James Clark to level with a curling free kick.
It as a good day for Cornish sides. Falmouth Town won 1-0 at Ilfracombe Town, Bodmin Town left Bishop Sutton with a 2-1 win despite falling behind to Rob Dumphy’s goal. Launceston were 2-0 winners against Clevedon Utd, only Ste. Blazey fell to Sherborne Town.
Bideford won 3-1 at Wellington with Matt Downing, Danny Harris and Nick Barker on target after Simon Ingram had given the home side the lead from the penalty spot.
