Bristol Academy ended their six-month wait for a league victory and picked up their first away win of the season with a 3-2 success at Liverpool. An own goal gave Academy a first half lead and a quickfire double from Gwennan Harries put them in control, but Danielle Sheen reduced the arrears on the stroke of half time and they were forced to endure a nervous final nine minutes after Alyson Hastie netted a penalty. The win now means that Academy will not finish in the bottom two.
However the result of the weekend undoubtedly went the way of Everton who defeated Arsenal 3-0 in their top of the table clash, thus ending the Gunners' 108-match unbeaten league record which stretched all the way back to October 2003.
In the Southern Division, Keynsham Town battled out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Barnet which means they stay in fifth place. After Zoe Lance had given Barnet a first half lead, youngster Amy Clark earned Keynsham a point when she scored from a free kick early after the restart. Both sides had chances to win the game but the draw did neither side's title ambitions any favours and Millwall Lionesses, who recorded two victories in a week, are now the hot favourites after replacing long term leaders Charlton Athletic at the top.
This Sunday, Bristol Academy will hoping for not too much of a backlash when they travel to play Arsenal whilst in the Southern Division, Keynsham also face a daunting trip to London as they take on Millwall Lionesses.
