Champions St Aldhelms improved their chances of retaining the Premier One Championship after coming from behind from to an early goal at home to nearest rivals CTK Southside to equalise through Darren Purnell, the Saints scored three goals in the last 25 minutes through goals from Gary Warren and two from Paul Gardener to win 4-1, the Saints lead the table by eight points but CTK have a game in hand and are at home to St Aldhelms next Saturday. Goals from Stuart New and Ian Croom gave Glenside Five OB a 2-0 lead at Stoke Gifford Utd who hit back to win 4-2 with goals from Dave Talbot, Lewis Anstey, Luke Bartley and Ross Matthews. Fourth-placed Almondsbury Town Res. travelled to Dundry to play Ashton Utd and returned with all three points courtesy of a 5-2 victory. Lee Venn bagged a brace with Rob Warren scoring a hat trick for the Town, Bob Massie and Mike Branchy were also on target for the Town. Southmead Athletic who were without a game are Premier Two Champions. Ridings High are in second place but Cadbury Heath Res. only need a point at Bristol Telephones on Tuesday to clinch the second promotion spot, Ridings beat Wessex Wanderers 6-0 thanks to goals from Sam Gill 2, Ryan Weeks, Matthew Woodman, Mike Hall and Jamie Roberts. Player Manager Gary Thomas scored the winner for Cadbury Heath Res. who came from behind to beat Bristol North West 2-1, Liam Planter scored the first Heath goal. Brislington ‘A’ lost 6-2 at home to Little Stoke and are one of three Clubs in danger of relegation from Premier Two, Whitchurch and Old Cothamians are the others. Bristol Athletic need a point from their last two games to clinch the Division One title, Carl Hart and Lee Ironmonger scored the goals in a 2-0 home win over Hengrove Athletic. Lawrence Weston finished in the second promotion spot from Tytherington Rocks Res. 50-year-old Barry Gazzard finished his playing career by scoring a penalty for Ashton Rangers but could not stop his side from losing 2-1 at home to Fishponds OB Res. and being relegated alongside Hengrove Athletic. Norman Goulding Cup Finalists Imperial Saints are favourites to win the Division Two Championship after winning 4-1 at Little Stoke Res. Current leaders Avonmouth Res. continued their long unbeaten run beating Stoke Gifford Utd Res. 9-0, both teams are promoted but the Saints are a point behind with two games in hand. Two goals from Mike Holloway gave Corinthian Sports a 2-0 home win over Tyndalls Park Rangers to move out of the relegation positions, Oldbury Crusaders need to win their last game to avoid relegation. Mangotsfield Utd ‘A’ are the new Champions of Division Three after winning 3-0 at Ashton Utd Res., Ross Wolsey, Shaun Bowley and Paul Davies scored for Mangotsfield. Lockleaze Res. lead Bristol County by a single point in Division Four with the teams due to meet next week, Lockleaze were without a game and Bristol County won 4-1 at bottom of the table Ridings High ‘A’. Four teams are separated by three points at the bottom of Division Four, Avonmouth ‘A’ 25, Wanderers 24, St Annes Town 24, South Glos 23 and Ridings High ‘A’ 22. Dominic Holver scored a hat trick for Division Five leaders Lebeq Utd who lead on goal difference from Lawrence Weston Res. and have two games in hand, Lebeq beat Fishponds OB ‘B’ 6-0, Mark Richards 2 and Tyrone Scott completed the scoring. Joe Morris and Ed Ryan were the Lawrence Weston Res. marksmen in a 2-1 win at Emersons Green, Dean Edmunds scored for Emersons.
