The single midweek match was played at Almondsbury’s ground, where the home side went down by 3-2 to Yate Town, who were unable to regain the top slot from Gala Wilton on the narrowest of margins, a single goal being the difference. Joe Welham and Junior Miller scored Almondsbury goals in the defeat, whilst Jack Parker, Andre Ali and Lewis Messe got the winners for Yate Town.
Sunday saw the match between last season’s champions, Gala Wilton entertain last season’s runners up, As added spice both clubs also had a 100% record before the match and were lying first and second in the table again. The match ended 2-1 in favour of Gala, with Brad Martin netting twice for the home club to take his total in five League games to ten. On target for Yate was new signing Aaron Betteridge, who was only transferred from Winterbourne United 48 hours before the game.
In the League Cup there were two First Round matches at Cadbury Heath [where Almondsbury were the visitors] and Winterbourne, who entertained Wotton Rovers, whom they beat 4-0 away in the League seven days previously. In the latter match Winterbourne took the lead after 25 minutes when Alex Monks found the net. Wotton were back level within less than 10 minutes thanks to Alex Lumsden making the half time score 1-1. However, Mason Poole put Winterbourne back in front again on 55 minutes, but three minutes later Wotton equalised for a second time through Lee Williams. So the match went into extra time with the score 2-2. It was decided in Wotton’s favour in the first half of extra time when a Will Dove effort went into the net.
The other League Cup tie at Cadbury Heath was not that far from being extended also. The Heathens shot into a 3-0 lead in the first half, thanks to a hat-trick from Andre Simpson. However, in the second half Cadbury Heath went down to ten men and Almondsbury scored four times thanks to braces from Jordan Coyle and Jordan James, but Joe Thomas hit two also to give Cadbury Heath a 5-4 win.
