2011-12 CUP DRAW

Quarter Finals
Swindon Supermarine v Bridgwater Town
Poole Town v Callington Town
Roche v Launceston
Morley Rangers v Downend Flyers

Morley Rangers progressed to the quarter finals with an extra time victory over Bude Town.

Three great opportunities in the first ten minutes should have seen Morley race into a comfortable early lead, however these chances went begging and how Morley paid when Bude took a fortuitous lead after an excellent point blank save from Rachel Cain in the Morley goal fell to a Morley defender whose clearance struck an on rushing Bude player in the chest to fly into the unguarded net.

Morley created further clear cut chances but failed to take them. Morley finally drew level following a corner which Jodie Nicholls shot against the post but was first to react to the rebound to fire into the roof of the net for her first goal of the season.  Bude, very lively on the attack, force several corners in succession which were all dealt with by the Morley defence.  Morley took the lead when Chynna Evans finished smartly from the edge of the area after some neat Morley play.

At half time the Morley players were warned about missing such gilt edge chances as the game could have been over bar the shouting, but now

Bude were still in the game and had something to cling onto.  Unfortunately, chances came and went again for Morley and sure enough with only their 3rd shot on target Bude drew level after a good cross across the Morley 6 yard box which went beyond the last covering defender but found the on rushing Bude midfielder who finished from close range.  The game got end to end as both sets of players started to tire on the heavy pitch, Morley came close several times again.

There were very tired legs on the pitch now and it was always going to be a matter of the will to win that would see either side through, the first period of extra time saw Morley again create chances with Bude stand-in keeper making a couple of great saves.  The first period of extra time saw no score and in the second period of extra time both teams had chances to take the lead but found the keepers in good form, with time running out and penalties on the agenda, one last attack from Morley saw Chynna Evans beat two players and firing against the upright, the ball bouncing back across the goal looked like it would be cleared to safety but Megan Platt out paced the defender to fire in the winning goal and the last action of the game as the ref blew for full time two seconds after the restart.
