OLDLAND CRUSH LOCAL RIVALS!
Oldland came in to this local derby on their worst run of the season, having suffered back to back defeats to Whitchurch followed up by a heavy 5-0 defeat to the Champions Broadwalk. However, Oldland had not forgot the winning habit and were soon in a commanding position when James Denyer put Oldland one up when he fired Ryan Langdon’s pass hard and low across the advancing keeper (4min), Denyer made it two when he ran on to Robert Bool’s through ball and coolly slotted home (7). Bool was provider again when he swung a corner in and Charlie Millard headed home (14), Millard got his second when he travelled down the wing with the ball and cut in and slid the ball under the keeper (17). Oldland were in cruise-control and it was 5-0 when Denyer converted his hat-trick after strike partner Jack Haberfield assisted him and his shot crept under the keeper and hit the post, but Denyer was on hand to slot the ball home (21). Millard then got his hat-trick when he and Rob Bool combined to make it 6-0 at the break (27).  After the break Oldland had to go up the slope and Longwell started to fight back, but Denyer managed to break away and get his 4th from a Haberfield through ball (36) and then Millard got his 4th when he got on the end of a Bool corner (42). Longwell Green then managed to pull a consolation goal back after an Oldland defensive mix up. Oldland then scored a fantastic goal when a brilliant corner from Rob Bool was headed home with real class high in to the far corner by man of the match Charlie Millard. Bool was involved again when another of his corners was going in at the near post but may have touched off the head of Jack Haberfield so although it was 10-1 it shows 11-1 as we credited both players with a goal. Hanham 5 Fishponds 0
In an entertaining game it would have been difficult to tell who were the team near the top of the table. Fishponds matched Hanham with some neat inter-passing and were unlucky to be behind 1-0 after creating several scoring chances of their own in the first half. Hanham got a second in the 41st minute with Fishponds still causing problems for the home defence through Callum Slade. The back line frustrated Hanham with Max Poole and Kristian Foord and Connor Poole pressurising the Hanham attack. With 10 minutes to go the Fishponds defence tired and Hanham scored a fortuitous third. Running out 5-0 winners which did not reflect the effort and skill of the Fishponds players. 0-2 would have been a fair reflection of the game. Men of the match for Fishponds were Max Poole and Kristian Foord. (R.Tanner).
