Bradley Stoke Youth progress to Quarter Final
Bradley Stoke Youth U9 Hornets 6 - 5 Ashton Boys
Bradley Stoke U9’s earned themselves a quarter final cup place against Longwell Green by beating Ashton Boys in a tense home cup tie.
It was a very positive start from both teams who were strong sides when they got the ball down and started playing football. Bradley Stoke didn’t have to wait long for their first goal which went to Callum Harris when he shot, the ball took a slight deflection on the way but the goal went down as his and he got a second goal just minutes later; when he fired a superb shot low and hard into the bottom corner.
Ashton boys were then able to get a goal back through number ten when he was able to hit the ball under the keeper and were able to get back on level terms when a powerful pass across the box and was converted to the top corner by number 8.
With the teams level it looked like it would stay that way until half time when Kody Maller ran down the right hand side of the goal. He then ignored the advice from Manager Tony Fryer who was screaming for him to pass, and absolutely wellied it into the top left hand corner of the goal forcing his manager to admit he was wrong!
Further goals from George Hucker and Lewis Bryant meant the first match finished 5-2.
The second game saw Ashton Boys fight back and get two goals before Harvey Castello forced an error from a strong Ashton keeper and sealed Bradley Stokes 6th goal. Ashton managed to get one back but it was not enough to get the draw they wanted.
