KEN BROWN

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of KEN BROWN on Tuesday 16 September.

Ken acted as Chairman of Port of Bristol FC for 34 years, overseeing the Club’s rise from the lower reaches of the Bristol & Suburban League to the top of the Gloucestershire County League in the 1970’s.

He was also responsible for the major improvements in local Youth Football. As Chairman he was responsible for guiding the Sunday Youth Football scene from the old Bath & Bristol Schoolboys Sunday League to the beginnings of the Avon Youth League. As the Founder of Shield Road Old Boys in the late 1960’s he helped guide the first steps in football of many local footballers over the years.

He will be sadly missed by many, especially his family. He was gave great assistance to his sons Mark and Neil is establishing Bristol Soccerworld in the 1980s, the latters having taken it forward to its new form as a very popular website.

Funeral to be held at Canford Crematorium on Friday 26 September 2014 at 12 noon.
